Cooking support for cancer
If you or someone you love or care for is living with cancer, whatever your food knowledge or skills or worries, we think this on-line programme might be for you.
Six online monthly sessions exploring the world of food, cooking and health with support and advice available in between the session, lots of lovely recipes sent to you, plenty of opportunities for your questions and ideas.
The programme is led by Barny and Victoria Kubiak, nutritional therapist at Penny Brohn UK, a cancer support charity. Their combined knowledge, passion and sense of humour will take you on a gentle walk through the beautiful and healing world of good food.
From frozen peas to your own home-grown squash, good vegetables are at the heart of all good cooking. We will have a look at salads too
Fish is so full of good things and so much easier to cook than many people think. We will obviously be using sustainably sourced fish and will tell you where you too can buy it.
Such a big subject both in terms of our own health and the health of the planet. We will be focusing on chicken dishes – how to get 5 delicious meals out of one organic or free-range chicken – but also talking about the subject of meat in a wider context of diet, animal welfare and the place of meat in a sustainable food world.
Too much sugar is undoubtedly bad for us and is certainly the cause of some of the biggest global human health issues. But a slice of lemon drizzle cake is also a little piece of heaven. This session puts things into a guilt-free perspective.
There are over 100 different varieties of beans and lentils available in the UK. We will be turning a few of them into some simple, nutritious and delicious meals.
Using fresh herbs and freshly ground spices combined with a few other ingredients can make the difference between a dish being deadly boring and delicious.
