The Story of Bread Week
Term 1

A one week, whole-school launch event to include bread-making for every child and accompanying lesson plans for teachers.

Cooking in the Classroom
Terms 1 - 6

Every week, the Square Food team will spend an afternoon with a different class and their teachers, to introduce children to cooking, new foods and flavours and provide staff with insight into and experience of cooking in the classroom. template class that they can take on and run.

Family Food
Terms 1 - 6

Weekly, hands-on workshops for parents. We’ll work with up to 12 parents per term, to provide them with new life skills, support them to feed their families and instil confidence in the kitchen. Along the way, we’ll develop a pool of parent 'volunteers' who will help sustain the culture of good food and healthy eating in the school into the longterm.

Teacher Training sessions
Terms 1 - 6

These relaxed, useful sessions will provide you with the knowledge, confidence, skills and templates you need to teach cooking in the classroom. Sessions are an opportunity to put into practice what you’ve observed, ask questions and share experiences with your colleagues.

Assembly
Terms 1 - 6

A chance for you to meet us and vice versa! Assemblies are a great way for us to introduce the Square Food team and the project. Over the year, we’ll use these once-a-term assemblies as an opportunity to check in, share successes and learnings and keep track of our progress.

Inset Days
Terms 1 - 6

These all-staff teambuilding days help keep the project on track and ensure a coherent and consistent approach. They provide staff with opportunities to feed back to each other and the SFF team and encourage buy-in and a sense of ownership.

Food Action Board (FAB) Meetings
Terms 1 - 6

Coordinated and hosted by SFF, these are short sessions with a dedicated group of school staff who've been appointed/volunteered to lead the programme on the school side.
